Across the Universe

I've been all about the reds recently when it comes to lips. Every shade, formula, finish... believe me, I've got my hands on it and tried it out. Not because I'm a lip-crazed weirdo (okay, maybe I am), but because I am still yet to find the perfect red lip for me. So when I stumbled across (accidentally bought on a spur of the moment trip to Boots - we've all been there!), I was a bit dubious about these hugely hyped-up lip lacquers would be worth it or not.

The Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers have been out for a while now, but over Christmas/New Year they brought out three new shades, with one being 'Across the Universe'. It's a deep, vintage-looking, true red which is perfect for those of us who don't mind being a bit daring with our choice of lip colour!

In terms of the application, I'm going to be honest - I struggle a bit with the Apocalips. I'm not sure whether it's the doe-foot applicator or the fact that I just don't have a very sturdy hand, but it was very difficult to keep inside the lines of my lips and make it look even.

However, it more than makes up for my shaky handedness with its staying power. Once I've applied, I usually blot with some tissue, reapply - if I'm going for a full-on red lip look - and blot a tiny bit more to make sure it doesn't smudge. And after that, it doesn't move. Not even a little bit. I'm pretty sure I could snog the face off David Beckham and it would stay put (I'm still yet to test this, but I'll report back).

Now featuring a total of 13 shades (and at just £4.99 in Boots right now), it would be rude not to pick up a few more shades, don't you think?
