Another blog post, another review on a product that has been so talked about in the blogging world! I bought the UD Naked Basics Palette a few months ago when I went to the Trafford Centre, as I'd read several reviews on it and the ones I read were all positive, saying it was perfect to create a neutral smokey eye - something which I really wanted!
The palette comes with six shades, four of which are completely new to the UD palettes - Venus (new), an off-white demi-matte; Foxy, a cream matte; Walk of Shame, a very light nude matte; Naked 2 (new), a taupe matte; Faint (new), a warm, dusty brown matte; and Crave (new), a very dark brown/black matte. I'll admit, I'm the last person to spend £20 on an eyeshadow palette, but the variety of colours is incredible, so I knew I was getting my money's worth.

I use all of the shades, meaning buying all six in this palette was not a waste at all! I usually dust over my eye with Naked 2, using a mixture of Foxy and Walk of Shame on the inside corners of my eyes, and Faint on the outside corners to create a 'smokey eye' look, blending it all in so it's not too harsh. I then use a mixture of Venus and Foxy as a highlighter, using it on my brow bone and underneath the arch of my eyebrows, and then Crave really lightly as an eyeliner towards the outside corners of my eyes. I also use Faint to fill in my eyebrows slightly, because sometimes I find that eyebrow pencil can be too dark for my eyebrows, so I use this to make them a little bit darker without making it super obvious.
The lasting power of these eyeshadows is amazing; I can put them on in the morning and by night time they're still there. The pigmentation is incredible too, you don't have to use tons of it to make your eyes stand out, which is exactly what I look for in a product - I don't have to spend hours on end doing my make-up that way!
Overall, I'm really happy with this product, and I've been checking out their Naked 2 Palette to add to my ever-growing collection of make-up. However, there are a lot of the same shades in that one, so when I finish this one I might have to grab myself one of those. Believe me, I was a bit scared about spending £20 on one item (major newbie to 'higher-end' brands here!), but it's shown that it's definitely worth the money. I use it everyday, and I wouldn't be without it!
Have you used any of the Urban Decay palettes? Which one was your favourite?
I love how you described all the shades! I don't own one myself just because I have so many palettes and I want to get my use out of those first! great review! xx Rena
