If You're Looking for a Winter Foundation...

As you may have read if you've seen my last post (you can have a looksie here), the first weekend of this month was my brother's wedding, and I was a bridesmaid. Of course, wearing makeup from 10am until the early hours of the next morning can be daunting, you're never sure if it's going to last all day or if it'll end up rubbing off after hours of endless dancing (and shedding a few tears, of course).

I needed a foundation that was going to last all day whatever the weather - it had been a mix of warm and cold, rainy and sunny... An absolute pain when searching for a foundation. You don't want one that won't be able to brave the cold, but you don't want one that will melt off if the heat gets too much! Fancying something a little more expensive and luxurious than my normal foundation, I accidentally fell into MAC and went about looking for the perfect foundation.

After having a little chat with one of the MAC ladies, she recommended the MAC Pro Longwear Foundation, and because I've been having a bit of trouble with spots lately, I snapped up the Longwear Concealer too. Originally, I was matched up to the shade NC20, but after the lady applied it for me, we decided NC15 would be better - it matched my skin tone perfectly, and it would be a great winter foundation.

My thoughts? I couldn't recommend this foundation enough. Once applied, it doesn't shift all day, and I mean all day. It's medium coverage, so on a good skin day I can get away without using a concealer - perfect for when I'm feeling a little lazy! The consistency is perfect for me, liquid but not too runny - making it feel silky on the skin and not sticky.

The only downside I can see with this foundation is that it's not easily buildable and it sets quite quickly, so if you're looking for something you can build up for a fuller coverage, I'd opt for something else. As well as this, I'd recommend this foundation for people with normal/combination/oily skin, definitely not for ladies with dry skin as it would probably stick to the dry areas and be quite hard to blend in.

Have you tried any MAC foundations before? Which is your favourite? Let me know!

  1. Ooo this looks very interesting! I have clean skin and looking for a foundation thats medium coverage and I love how long lasting it is. However I would like something build able for evenings out etc as I like heavier coverage but maybe I'll try it out and see whether its a heavy enough coverage that I'd feel comfortable in :)

  2. I love this foundation, I have oily/combination skin and I find that this foundation is the only one that seems to stay on my skin. Nothing worse than having a patchy face by 3pm ! :( x
