My First MAC Dabble

Having only bought my first MAC lipstick two weeks ago, I didn't think I'd be in a huge rush to buy another. But, I saw this shade at the MAC counter in Selfridges in Manchester this week, and I had to buy it. I'm usually the type of person who will go for a light pinky shade like Creme Cup (included in my haul post here), as I'm uber pale and I'm always too scared to venture out to any other colours. Keeping this in mind, I thought I was being quite adventurous with this shade (humour me, please), and I'm so glad I was.

I hadn't heard of Mehr when I saw it. Let's be honest, I barely even knew how to say it... Mehhhhr, Murrrr? Anyway...  People are usually raving about the red shades - Russian Red, Ruby Woo and most recently Ronnie - but I know that these don't suit me in the slightest. So I was raring to get home and try the lipstick out for myself (counter girls terrify me, and the one who was attempting to serve me yesterday seemed a little narky so I wanted to get away ASAP). I realised as soon as I put it on that it's such a wearable shade, perfect for day to day make-up, and not too garish on my pale face. The pigmentation is amazing, it doesn't take layers and layers to make it look good - for me it only took one application, meaning it should last for quite a while!

I haven't tried a Matte lipstick from MAC before. I've heard a lot of them can be quite drying on your lips and difficult to apply because they seem to 'drag' across, but this one seems to be one of the lucky ones that does neither. It doesn't dry my lips out at all, and it applies SO easily - perfect considering I usually have quite a bit of trouble applying lipstick at the best of times. It also has the best staying power of any lipstick I've tried. I put it on early yesterday afternoon, and even after eating and drinking, it was still there - so rare in any of my other lipsticks!

If you're as pale as me, and you're looking for a daytime lipstick with a little bit of a difference from the usual pinky shades, I can't recommend this enough. It's already made it's way into my favourite items from my make-up bag, and I think it's there to stay for quite a while.

Have you tried any MAC products? What's your favourite shade of lipstick?

  1. I've never tired a Matt MAC lipstick but this looks lovely. I'd be scared that it was too drying. I bought my first MAC lipstick a couple weeks ago and I got a Cremesheen in Creme In Your Coffee, I love it!
