A Matte Lip Without A Problem

I'm all for something that makes applying a lip colour a bit easier. I have the least steady hand you will ever find, and I end up looking more like Pete Burns if I don't concentrate hard enough. So when I heard about these new fan-dangled (yes I'm behind the times) lip crayons, I knew they were something I wanted to get on board with.

I've tried a couple in the past - the original Clinique one, and a couple from Bourjois - but they seemed to slip and slide to no end, giving me a strange glossy lip that I wasn't at all happy with. I needed something more matte, something that wouldn't budge but still something easy to apply - and in walks the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm Lip Crayon in Standout.

Being in crayon form, the pointed end makes it a lot easier to get tidy-looking lipstick without all the effort, and it's a lot simpler to top up throughout the day (even without a mirror, which is a huge step for me!). It's also matte, but not overly matte, so it still has a bit of creaminess and I don't have to worry about it drying my lips out in this horrible weather we're having recently.

The one thing that impresses me, though, is the fact it doesn't give you that dreaded 'half-lipliner, half-faded-lipstick' look that tends to happen when it naturally wears off throughout the day. It fades completely evenly, leaving your lips with a slight stain instead of looking like you just forgot to colour your lips in.

I'm definitely looking forward to trying a few more shades from the range (Striking and Elusive being on the wishlist right now), as I'm super impressed with this little beauty. I think I've found my new favourite lip product with this, and that really is saying something!

Have you tried any of Revlon's Matte Lip Crayons? What did you think?

  1. I picked up two of these the other day and I completely agree about the half lipliner, half faded lipstick look. These lip Crayons fade evenly which is so refreshing!
